Point Form

  • Yay! for a potentially kinder and gentler US of A. I wish this change followed through to supporting women's and homosexuals' rights, but I guess I'll have to wait for the next election and cross my fingers for better news.
  • My operation follow-up went well. Everything is healing the way it should. My list of things I don't like hearing doctors say now includes "Oh yes! I can't wait to tell you about what we found! Your operation was so interesting!" Apparently having endo "freckles" all over my bladder is interesting -- though I will admit hearing about the technique she used to get rid of them was pretty cool. My endo has been graded as high stage II / low stage III. There *was* a cyst to be removed, but it burst during the operation when handling my ovary. Strangely, this is better than having it surgically removed, as this was on the side where I had the partial oophorectomy in 2001. My best chance in getting pregnant would be in the next year, so I think if it doesn't happen by then I'm going to declare my uterus closed for business and look at more permanent solutions for the endo trouble.
  • I've been doing a lot of gardening. If anyone wants some rosebushes or raspberries to stick in the ground before winter, this is likely the last week to nab them from me. I've got a lot so (please) be greedy and take them off my hands. I also have a bucket full of rooted pieces of corkscrew willow, if trees are more your thing.
  • Christmas knitting is coming along well. Soon I will have to start baking and putting together the jars of tea. I still need to get to Value Village to find some teacups and saucers and up to the hardware store for an appropriate Dremel bit. Tonight, however, I will be knitting at the Carleton. Rawr!
  • Halloween went well. #1 was a vampire (with Fimo fangs, made by moi) and #2 was a robot. We made a costume out of tinfoil, a box, and a string of battery-operated mini-lights to go with the robot hat I made him in August 2007. He has already informed me that he wants to be a robot again next year and that I'm to save his costume.
  • I'm close to seeing the end of the tunnel in sorting out a rather major bookkeeping issue with our coop. This makes me happy because dealing with it, frankly, makes me more than a little bit crazy.
  • #2 turns 5 in a couple weeks.  5 years ago around now I began a major downward spiral in my depression -- likely exacerbated by the hypothetical medical crap being thrown at me with re: to his kidney. I'm in a much better place now and this makes me happy. I'm not perfect, but I don't think I want to be.
  • I've been revisiting my collection of Broadway musicals. #1 is horrified. #2 is enthralled.
